SECOND CAREER



Second Career
is an Ontario government program that offers
training for a new job, including financial support.

Second Career provides career planning and financial support
specially designed to help laid-off Ontarians participate in long-term training for a new job. Career counsellors in Employment Ontario offices across the province can help you take the first step.

The Halton Skills Direct program will help you get started on your second career by assisting you with the application process and supporting you throughout the approval process. ONTARIO SKILLS DEVELOPMENT



Ontario Skills Development can help you with short-term training to build your skills and get a job. It can provide you with:

  • Financial help for things like books and tuition fees
  • Better chances for finding a long-term job.
WHO IS IT FOR?

You may qualify for the program if you:
  • Are unemployed
  • Are eligible for Employment Insurance (EI), or were eligible within the past three years
  • Left work to care for a newborn or newly adopted child, and were eligible for Employment Insurance maternity or parental benefits within the past five years.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW!

You need to apply for this program. The date that your completed application is received by Employment Ontario is the date that will be used to determine your eligibility. It is important to apply as soon as possible.
